Breast augmentation heads the list as the most frequently performed cosmetic procedure in America. Although females of all ages request the procedure, breast implants are most popular with women in their 20s. One type of implant generating a lot of interest is the breast implant commonly known as gummy bears. As a board certified plastic surgeon specializing in breast surgeries I am well qualified to discuss and provide them.
The formal name for these implants is form stable (silicone gel) implants; shaped like a teardrop, they provide an authentically natural breast augmentation. They earned the gummy bear name because even when the implant is cut in half it retains its’ inherent tear drop shape. Its silicone gel material is somewhat firmer than a traditional round silicone implant. Many of my patients prefer gummy bear implants because they follow the shape of pre-surgery breasts.
As with any surgical decision your options, risks, advantages, and disadvantages should be fully disclosed when discussed with your surgeon. You will have the opportunity to make informed choices regarding shape, feel, size and implant material. At the Robert Zubowski MD Center for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in Paramus NJ we work to make these decisions easier for you through disclosure and education.
Breast augmentation is among the most transformative of surgeries. The results often inspire patients to take better care of their bodies, both internally and externally. Post-surgically, many patients initiate healthier eating, begin or increase their visits to the gym, and change their fashion style from drab to hip. Several complimentary therapeutic massage sessions are among the alternative modalities we provide, and one that patients frequently continue once they’ve finished the initial offering.
