WHAT IS LIPOSUCTION?
Liposuction, also known as “lipoplasty,” is among the most popular cosmetic surgery procedures and can help you achieve the shape you’ve always wanted. The lipo surgery involves removing excess fat from specific areas like your abdomen, hips, thighs, or back to gently sculpt your body contours into a more shapely and proportionate physique. Liposuction is effective in removing fatty areas that are unresponsive to typical weight-loss methods but it should not be considered a substitute for proper diet and exercise.
Dr. Robert Zubowski and Dr. Brad Gandolfi make use of several innovative liposuction techniques to help provide our patients with precise results and accelerated recovery time.
WHAT IS TUMESCENT LIPOSUCTION?
During the more traditional tumescent liposuction procedure, Dr. Zubowski or Dr. Brad Gandolfi will infuse large amounts of a local anesthetic solution mixed with epinephrine into small incisions made in the target area. Epinephrine helps counteract bleeding while the anesthetic ensures that you remain awake but comfortable throughout the procedure. Once the tissues in the target area have tumesced, or become firm, the doctor begins to remove the fat using a small cannula. Liposuction recovery time is minimal and you can normally return to light exercise within a few days of the cosmetic procedure.
We recognize that not all patients are the same. For this reason Dr. Zubowski or Dr. Gandolfi will spend the time during your consultation with you at our Paramus, NJ headquarters, the Robert Zubowski MD Center for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, to learn what you want to achieve with liposuction as a treatment plan is prepared. Dr. Zubowski or Dr. Gandolfi will discuss your body contouring goals, and outline in greater detail what is possible with liposuction. They will also help you decide between non-invasive lipo procedures such as ultrasonic liposuction and the “smart lipo” laser liposuction or the traditional tumescent liposuction. Furthermore, it is quite common that liposuction is combined with other plastic surgery procedures such as breast reduction, a facelift or a tummy tuck. Dr. Zubowski or Dr. Gandolfi will also review your medical history with you. Liposuction is riskier for individuals with medical problems such as chronic health problems with the heart and lungs, poor blood circulation, diabetes, or for those who recently had surgery near the area to be treated.
HOW MUCH IS LIPOSUCTION?
Liposuction cost will be dependent on the choices made during your one-on-one consultation with Dr. Zubowski or Dr. Gandolfi discussing your unique situation and desired outcome. After reviewing your medical history, Dr. Zubowski or Dr. Gandolfi will discuss your priorities and motivations for pursuing plastic surgery, and ask about any reservations and concerns you may have. Following your examination, Dr. Zubowski or Dr. Gandolfi will provide advice and options to help you achieve the appearance you desire. At the end of your consultation, our staff will provide you with a written estimate of the liposuction cost. The cost of liposuction typically starts from $4000 and moves upward depending on how many areas are done.
WHO ARE THE BEST CANDIDATES FOR LIPOSUCTION?
Patients with the most successful outcomes are either those healthy individuals wishing to jump start their weight loss program, healthy women who might have larger thighs, or men who are unhappy with their love handles. A few ideal traits common to liposuction candidates include having firm, elastic skin with pockets of excess fat in certain areas. Your age is a minor concern; older patients have less skin elasticity and may not achieve the optimum results as those of a young patient with better skin elasticity.
