WHAT IS AN UPPER ARM LIFT?
An arm lift, or brachioplasty, is a surgical procedure for reshaping the upper arm by removing excess fat and tightening the skin from the under-arm region to the elbow. Brachioplasty can help you achieve slimmer, toned and more contoured arms. Very popular among post-bariatric patients, arm lift surgery will offer dramatic results if you are experiencing sagging skin or flabby arms caused by excessive weight loss or aging.
During your initial visit at our center, you will work closely with top New Jersey board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Robert Zubowski or Dr. Gandolfi to customize a thorough arm lift surgery plan based on your aesthetic vision. Dr. Zubowski or Dr. Gandolfi will also provide an overview of available surgical techniques for your procedure. During your consultation he will determine the size and location of the incision by evaluating the amount of skin to be removed, identify the location of the excess skin flap and determine the amount of fat to be expunged. He will also review your health history, examine your skin condition and note your body frame.
ARM LIFT SURGERY
The brachioplasty procedure is performed here at our SurgiCenter in our Robert Zubowski MD Center for Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery. It will take between two to three hours to complete, depending on the extent of work you require. Most patients are provided the option of having either a local anaesthetic and/or a general anaesthetic during their procedure. In most cases, patients choose a general anaesthetic for this surgery.
During your arm lift procedure, Dr. Zubowski or Dr. Gandolfi will make an incision in your upper arm, and perform liposuction and use muscle tightening techniques to slim the area. In most cases, this incision is made at the inner and under-surface of the arm. Then, Dr. Zubowski or Dr. Gandolfi will trim away any excess skin. Once he’s completed smoothing your arm, he will close the incision with stitches that hold your skin together. Finally, your arm will be wrapped in bandages and a compression sleeve will be applied to minimize any swelling. Normally, you will feel a smooth tighter arm within a few days and within a week or two the swelling and bruising typically will diminish.
WHAT DOES AN UPPER ARM LIFT COST?
The brachioplasty cost will be dependent on the choices made during your private consultation with Dr. Zubowski or Dr. Gandolfi, allowing him to assess your unique situation. During your meeting you will have ample opportunity to discuss your desired outcome and what you can realistically expect. After reviewing your medical history, you’ll discuss your priorities and motivations for pursuing plastic surgery, and any reservations and/or concerns you may have. Following your examination, Dr. Zubowski or Dr. Gandolfi will provide advice and options to help you achieve the appearance you desire. He will review the advantages and disadvantages of your option in order to best capture an aesthetically pleasing arm lift. At the end of your consultation, our staff will provide you with a written estimate of the arm lift cost. Brachioplasty cost is typically in the $6000 range.
