Heads up! Dr. Zubowski discusses why BOTOX® demand is growing for excessive sweating

When the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) recently released its procedures statistics report, I was reminded of just how diverse the popularity of Botox has become. It noted that more than six and a half million Botox procedures were performed in 2015, a one percent increase from 2014, and 759 percent increase since 2000.

In my practice at the Robert Zubowski MD Center for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in Paramus, New Jersey, as Medical Director, and a board certified NJ plastic surgeon with over 25 years of experience, I perform Botox injection procedures routinely. What is interesting to me though, is the number of my patients, both men and women, requesting Botox treatments at an earlier age.  I see patients in their late 20’s and 30’s, in addition to more mature individuals, who seek to rid themselves of forehead wrinkles and fine lines, and the beginning of crow’s feet around the eyes.

Botox injections work so effectively because it can “freeze” the muscles that cause these wrinkles for three to four months post-treatment. But we’re also using Botox for sweating, as a solution to the embarrassing problem of excessive underarm sweating, sweaty palms, feet to foreheads.

After a thorough exam and consultation with me, we will discuss your goals and how best to meet them. Botox is an excellent way of introducing you to the benefits of cosmetic rejuvenation since it is a temporary solution. But it’s been my experience that once you try it you will want to maintain its results. You need not follow any special protocol prior to your procedure, and can go about your normal routine directly afterwards. During your Botox session I will administer what feels like tiny pin pricks of Botulinum Toxin Type A to the area in question. The session’s duration depends on the desired number of areas.  The important part is to select a physician who has mastered his technique so that not only does he accomplish your goals, but leaves you with a natural appearance.

If you would like to schedule a consultation with me for Botox or to discuss other cosmetic surgeries and/or procedures please contact our office manager who will set up an appointment. In the meantime you might like to learn more about Botox by going to:
