Gynecomastia, or enlargement of the male breast, affects 40-60% of men, and can be caused by medications, hormonal imbalance, genetics or unknown factors. While many people may not have heard of this condition, abnormal breast tissue development is surprisingly common and very treatable. Male breast reduction methods provided by Dr. Robert Zubowski at our Paramus, NJ center include the removal of excess glandular tissue, liposuction, or a combination of excision and liposuction.

The ideal candidate for breast reduction surgery is a male, 18 years or older, in good health, physically and emotionally, and has firm, elastic skin that will easily lend to reshaping his body’s new contours. If your skin quality is good, but you have predominantly fatty or diffusely glandular breasts, Dr. Zubowski may choose to treat you with liposuction. The goal of liposuction is to remove a sufficient amount of breast tissue to minimize pain and recurrence, yet allow for a normal post-operative breast appearance. If there is a locally dense area of breast tissue behind the areola, Dr. Zubowski will make a direct small incision in the lower half of the areola. If there is also a significant amount of skin, then he will also perform skin removal to shape and tighten the breast.

The fees for Gynecomastia varies depending on the technique performed, the kind of anesthesia chosen, and surgery center fees. Once you’ve had your in-person consultation with Dr. Zubowski, our Patient Coordinator, Dana Van Gray, will be able to give you a detailed quote.
