Like me, you probably know that an educated consumer has a leg up on his or her purchases. When I hit the supermarket I scrutinize the ingredients labels on unfamiliar products. What I’ve learned is that unless you know the nuances of labeling language you may be fooled into buying a product that has an ingredient you’d rather avoid. For example, malt barley contains a high concentration of maltose, a form of sugar. Making a mistake at the grocery store is one of life’s less serious consequences. When seeking a plastic surgeon, it’s fair to say that patients want the best practitioner and they’ve learned that a board certification credential is important. However, when seeking plastic surgery, not all board certifications are the same. I began cosmetic surgery over twenty-five years ago and as soon as I was eligible I underwent the extensive oral and written board examination to obtain certification from the American Board of Plastic Surgeons. In order to be eligible for the exam, my medical background had to include extensive training in plastic surgery as well as general surgery. Today, doctors who are board certified in different medical specialties–but not in plastic surgery–perform plastic surgeries legally. So you see, all board certifications are not the same. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS ) when considering a plastic surgeon always ask the doctor about his/her specific board certification and if he/she is a member of ASPS. The organization’s website, has a wealth of information. ASPS is among my professional memberships. Its members must adhere to a Code of Ethics and operate only in accredited centers. Within the Robert Zubowski MD Center for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery located in Paramus New Jersey, where I am Medical Director, we have created SurgiCenter, a fully accredited state-of-the-art surgery arena. We operate with a hand-picked surgical team that includes a board certified anesthesiologist and a nurse and medical technician specialized in assisting in plastic surgery cases. If you’d like to explore your cosmetic surgery options, both surgical plastic surgery procedures and non-surgical cosmetic procedures, please either contact our office manager at 201.261.7550 to set up a consultation with me, or start your consultation online.
“I’ve been coming to The Robert Zubowski Center for over 10 years. I drive more than 2 hours because they are worth it. I’m thrilled with my surgical results and the continuous skin care. I would never consider switching to another practice.”
