Mastopexy (breast lift) involves the removal of excess skin that causes your breasts to sag, lose shape and become less firm. During the approximately two-hour breast surgery procedure, Dr. Zubowski will create precise incisions, remove the extra skin, and reshape the remaining breast tissue, areola and nipple.

Incisions may be made under the breasts or around the nipple, and most scars are obscured behind your clothing just beneath your bra or bikini top. Once Dr.Zubowski has achieved a balanced, natural, and symmetrical look, he will close the incisions and dress you in a pressure garment to promote healing.

The fees for breast lift varies, depending on the technique performed, the kind of anesthesia chosen, and surgery center fees. Once you’ve had your in-person consultation with Dr. Zubowski, our Patient Coordinator, Dana Van Gray, will be able to give you a detailed quote.

After reviewing your medical history, you’ll be asked about your priorities and motivations for pursuing plastic surgery, along with any reservations and concerns you may have. Following your examination, Dr. Zubowski will provide advice and options to help you achieve the appearance you desire. He will also go over the advantages and disadvantages of the most appropriate options to achieve an aesthetically pleasing lift.

Patient Education

Frequently Asked Questions About Breast Lift

A breast lift (mastopexy) raises and reshapes sagging breasts by removing excess skin and tightening surrounding tissue, creating a more youthful contour. Breast augmentation, by contrast, uses implants to enlarge breast size and fullness. Depending on goals and anatomy, the two procedures can be performed separately or together.

Ideal candidates have breast sagging from aging, pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight change, or gravity; are in good health; maintain a stable weight; and hold realistic expectations. Non-nicotine users heal best. A consultation with Dr. Zubowski determines your personalized plan.

  • Anchor (Inverted-T / Wise-pattern): Around the areola, vertically to the crease, then along the crease—best for significant sagging.
  • Lollipop (Vertical-scar): Around the areola and vertically to the crease—ideal for moderate sagging with fewer scars.
  • Donut (Periareolar / Benelli): Single incision around the areola—suited to mild sagging and minimal scarring.
  • Crescent: Small incision along the upper half of the areola—used for minor adjustments.

Choice depends on breast size, degree of sagging, skin quality, and preference—decided with Dr. Zubowski.

Days 1-3: Swelling, bruising, and discomfort; wear a surgical bra or compression garment.
Week 1: Most patients resume light activities or desk work.
Weeks 2-6: Gradual return to normal routines and exercise as advised.
Months 3-6: Scars mature and fade as breasts settle into final shape.
Follow all post-operative instructions for best results.

Possible risks include scarring, temporary or permanent changes in nipple/breast sensation, asymmetry, infection, bleeding, and delayed wound healing. Strict adherence to Dr. Zubowski’s pre- and post-operative guidance minimizes these complications.

Many women can still breastfeed after a lift; milk ducts and nerves are preserved whenever possible. Discuss future breastfeeding plans with Dr. Zubowski to select a technique that best maintains lactation potential.

Results are long-lasting, but aging, gravity, and weight fluctuations will continue to affect breast shape. Maintaining a stable weight and healthy lifestyle helps prolong your lifted contour.

Scars are inevitable yet strategically placed and typically fade over time. Minimize scarring by following wound-care instructions, protecting incisions from sun, and using recommended topical or silicone scar treatments.

Yes. A lift can be paired with augmentation (implants) or reduction to address size and shape in one surgery, streamlining recovery. A comprehensive consultation with Dr. Zubowski determines the optimal combined approach for your goals.
