Dr. Zubowski Discusses the Importance of Readying Yourself for Surgery

Dr. Zubowski performing surgery

When it comes to surgery what you don’t know can harm you. That’s why at the Robert Zubowski MD Center for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in Paramus, NJ, we encourage you to partake in our comprehensive pre-and post-surgery awareness program.

Even before you walk through our doors you will be mailed an information packet detailing the procedure or procedures in which you are interested. Once you decide that we are the medical professionals you want to accomplish your cosmetic surgery goals, we will further inform you about the entire surgical process including what to expect the day of your surgery so that little will be left to your imagination.

At the Robert Zubowski MD Center for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, you and I are partners in a joint venture. Once you’ve set the date for your procedure, there are certain steps you need to take to promote the best surgical outcome. These include not smoking, taking a multi-vitamin and vitamin C, cutting out any aspirin or aspirin-like regimen, and filling any prescriptions we provide related to your surgery.  You will also be made aware of over-the-counter and prescription meds you should avoid leading up to and after your surgery that may interfere with your healing process. While most people know about aspirin, did you know that vitamin E should also be avoided?

Your education will also include specific surgical risks, which are inherent in any procedure. We will remind you that some patients experience a temporary feeling of depression, post-surgically. Knowing what to expect helps to reduce stress levels.

I’ve just touched on a few of the protocols we’ve implemented to ready you for your procedure. I strongly suggest that you review all of the safety practices we’ve established at the Robert Zubowski MD Center for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

For more information on how we can help you accomplish your cosmetic surgery goals and for a one-to-one consult with me please call our office manager who will set up your convenient appointment.
